McKenzie Teel and Cherish Me, “Pistol”, a 10 year-old Appaloosa

I grew up a city-girl in the heart of Seattle so my childhood was spent dreaming more about horses than riding them. That all changed when I met my mentor, Dale Rumens-Partee. Through her guidance those dreams became a reality and I’ve thrown myself into my horsemanship education with a passion. I now teach for Western Sky Horsemanship and am fortunate enough to share my passion with students every day.

I love Cowboy Dressage because it gives me a lens through which to focus my horsemanship, it reminds me to keep soft-feel and partnership at the top of my goals. I have participated in many Cowboy Dressage clinics and shows but this is my first time at the Cowboy Dressage Finals.  It is both thrilling and humbling to be riding with so many inspiring horsewomen and men, not to mention the horses themselves.  I am truly honored to be riding for Top Hand with Cherish Me, “Pistol”, a 10 year-old Appaloosa with long legs and a lot of try. Pistol a wonderful horse owned by a wonderful horsewoman, Jean Rhodes at Rhodes River Ranch. I’m thankful for the opportunity to show what he and I can do together, let’s have some fun!
